Winter on ShakeyGround Farm

Winter brings a slower pace to the farm. But the important work of crop planning begins in earnest. Our goal is to have all our initial and succession plantings for the entire season mapped on a calendar. That way, when the growing season gets hectic we don’t even have to think about what needs to go into the ground next. There’s always variables, of course. The season never goes as we plan from our kitchen table in January. But a detailed plan really helps the season go smoothly.

But the farm work isn’t all done around the kitchen table in winter. We’re still producing! We’re currently harvesting hearty winter greens and fresh eggs, and we have a freezer full of meat. Our farmstand is closed for the season, but you’re still able to order directly from the farm. If you’d like to arrange pick up of any of our farm products, just email us and we’ll make it happen.  Thanks for supporting the far
